Rebirth - JRWI Weekly
Ideas on balancing entrepreneurial drive with wellness, bringing to life new ideas while living well ourselves and making space for what matters in a well balanced life.
Hi,
I’m writing this to you on my flight home from Madrid. Weather permitting, I’ll be home by the time you read this.
This week I joined a new project. It’s called Aragon. Aragon is a blockchain project. Our goal is to build tools that allow people to build their own ”unstoppable organizations”.
I spent this week on-boarding with Aragon’s co-founders. I’m feeling excited, inspired, optimistic and a little tired at the end of it.
Joining Aragon feels like an important milestone on my Just Rolling with It path. It almost feels like the culmination of the path.
It brings together many aspects of it -
1 - It’s work I feel excited and optimistic about.
2 - It’s work in a space (blockchain) that excites me and I’ve taken a deep interest in.
3 - The team is a group of extremely smart people I’m feeling excited to work with. We share a belief Aragon can help fix some of the world’s worst problems.
4 - It’s work I hope will benefit others and society at large.
5 - The project’s remote workstyle respects and supports the importance I place on balance. Aragon’s not a “hustle” kind of place.
6 - The team appreciates what I add to it, both as a professional and a human being.
It feels like what I’ve learned while Just Rolling with It has made joining Aragon possible. That’s why I could view this as the culmination of the path.
But I’m trying not to do that. I’m aware of my tendency to make joining Aragon “the one”. “The one” is a concept I wrote about in an earlier newsletter.
Instead, I intend to continue traveling the Just Rolling with It path. I’m looking at Aragon as a new stage of the journey. It’s a stage I feel excited about in ways I have never felt about work before.
Entering this stage is another reminder to me that Just Rolling with It works. That’s why I’m sharing this with you.
I’m sharing this with you in the hope it may inspire you to continue pursuing your own Just Rolling with It path.
So please stay tuned, this isn’t the end. It’s the beginning of a new phase.
I can’t help but feel like it’s a bit of a rebirth. And for this I feel grateful.
Thanks for being along for the ride.
How’s your journey progressing? Is there anything I can do to help? Please let me know by responding directly to this email.
Chris

Technological Revolutions and Financial Capital
‘Before I read this book I thought that the history of technology was – to borrow Churchill’s phrase – merely “one damned thing after another”. Not so. Carlota Perez shows us that historically technological revolutions arrive with remarkable regularity,

Podcast of the Week
Meetings Are Toxic
Rework is a podcast by the makers of Basecamp about a better way to work and run your business. While the prevailing narrative around successful entrepreneurship tells you to scale fast and raise money, we think there’s a better way. We’ll take you behind the scenes at Basecamp with co-founders Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson and bring you stories from business owners who have embraced bootstrapping, staying small, and growing slow.
